It must be one of those typical American stories: Full-time rookie Austin Cindric wins the NASCAR classic Daytona 500 on the 85th birthday of his team owner, Roger Penske.

Cindric beat Bubba Wallace – driving for Michael Jordan – in the 23 Toyota by a full 0.036 seconds in racing to the black-white-checkered flag. Keselowski in his #6 was the bad boy of the evening – several times he attracted attention due to unclean pushes, which also caused caution phases.

With 14 laps to go, NASCAR officials seemingly had enough of the rain spectacle in Texas. The premiere on the Circuit of The Americas circuit was not only interrupted but stopped with the second red flag of the day.

The beneficiary of this decision was crowd favorite Chase Elliott, who was probably running low on fuel at the time, securing his sixth victory in the last 11 circuit races.

Elliott’s first win of the season also secured the 268th Cup victory for Hendrick Motorsports, which now has as many wins under its belt as previous record holder Petty Enterprises.

The NASCAR premiere at the Circuit of The Americas, where Formula 1, IMSA, WEC and MotoGP have already competed, was marked by a number of serious accidents on a rain-soaked track, and to make matters worse, a hydrant burst next to one of the neatly filled grandstands, providing more water for the spectators.

It doesn’t get more dominant than this: Hendrick Motorsports secures a quadruple victory at the NASCAR race in Dover! The team of owner Rick Hendrick finished as follows: Alex Bowman, Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, William Byron. Additionally, a total of six Chevrolets finished in the top 10 at the Monster Mile with Tyler Reddick (P8) and Daniel Suarez (P9).

Bowman joins Martin Truex Jr. as the second drivers to win more than one race this season. Martin Truex Jr. has done so at Phoenix Raceway, Martinsville Speedway and Darlington Raceway while Bowman previously secured the win at Richmond Raceway.
